During my winter trip to Iceland, I stayed at Black Pearl near Reykjavík harbor. After reading so many positive reviews and seeing photos of the apartments, I was sold and quickly booked an apartment for my Iceland trip.
Black Pearl is a small boutique hotel that rents full, spacious apartments to guests. The standard suite we stayed in was immaculately clean, decorated beautifully, and just overall incredible. A standard apartment at Black Pearl boasts a large living room, a full kitchen, a spacious bedroom, a modern bathroom, a walk-in closet, an outdoor balcony, and a touchscreen control panel for the lights, temperature, floor warmers, towel warmer, and more.
When we were shown to our beautiful apartment, I was floored by how stunning the space was.
The Stylish & Functional Living Room
The living room was warm and welcoming while still being trendy and modern. Not only were the couch and chairs beautiful, they were also really comfortable. I greatly enjoyed resting on the couch with a cup of warm tea while watching Christmas movies.
Our Full Kitchen
I couldn’t get over the size of the kitchen and dining area. We had a full kitchen to utilize, and the staff at Black Pearl left us a bunch of goodies to enjoy throughout our stay. We had all the Nespresso capsules we needed as well as tea and cookies. I loved being able to make a cup of tea to enjoy while getting ready for dinner.
An Extremely Comfortable Bedroom
Our bedroom was so cozy and included a supremely comfortable bed, a beautiful view of the city, a flat screen television, and a large walk-in closet. I slept so well in our beautiful, comfy room.
A Spa-Like Bathroom
I was so impressed with the modern bathroom that featured a sleek shower positioned right next to a towel warmer. I felt so spoiled having a warm towel and heated marble floors ready for me when I was finished with my shower.
Who Doesn’t Love Easy-to-Use Controls?
The touchscreen controls for the lights, towel warmer, and floor warmers were fantastic. I loved the “cosy” setting for the apartment.
Convenient, Covered Parking
We also were given a parking spot for our rental car in the garage at the hotel. Parking spots in Reykjavík are really limited, and during the winter snow and ice make parking outside even more of an issue. We were so thankful to be able to easily and quickly walk down to our snow-free car every day. The parking garage was a wonderful bonus.
Five-Star Service
In addition to the apartment and facilities being wonderful, the employees at Black Pearl were amazing. We landed at Keflavík International around 6:30 a.m. Iceland time and 1:30 a.m. Florida time. We hadn’t slept at all and still had the 40-minute drive to Reykjavík ahead of us. When we arrived at Black Pearl, they notified us that our apartment had not been rented out the night before, so we were able to check in much earlier than the actual check-in time. I was incredibly relieved to have instant access to our apartment! I really could have hugged the staff that morning for going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had an easy transition into our new home.
The staff at Black Pearl continued to be such a pleasure to interact with. Whenever we walked through the lobby, they always asked us if we were doing well and offered up recommendations of where to go and what to see. They were so friendly and genuinely wanted us to have the best time.
An Unbeatable Location
The location of the apartments made it exceptionally easy to explore Reykjavík. We were across from the harbor and Harpa as well as surrounded by countless restaurants and bars in the area. We easily walked to all the establishments we wanted to eat and drink at.
All in all, I’m confident in saying that Black Pearl is THE PLACE to stay in Reykjavík. I know that any time I return to Reykjavík, I’ll be staying there. I mean, my eyes actually teared up when it came time to leave and return my keys. Black Pearl, I love you! *Updated* We have now stayed at Black Pearl multiple times. I even wrote a second blog post about Our Second Stay at Black Pearl Apartments in Reykjavík, Iceland.
